Project - Rain water harvesting

Water is a precious, essential, and abiotic component of the ecosystem. It is hard to imagine a day without water as all living things need water to carry out different cellular activities. Today we all are heading toward the scarcity of water, and this is mainly because of the lack of water conservation and pollution of water bodies. So, we decided to let ourselves not waste a drop of water and start conserving water for further use. Being a residential campus we have many hostels for boys, girls and staff Quaters. We have rainwater harvesting technology to conserve rainwater by collecting, storing, conveying, and purifying of rainwater that runs off rooftops for later use.

Project information

Almost all hostel rooftops are connected and the harvested rainwater gets stored in a well through a filtering system. The stored water is then conveyed to different hostels, academic buildings with the help of an advanced RO water plant. Thus the conserved water reduces the demand for municipal supplies.

Our rainwater harvesting systems consists of the following components
1. Well- Used to collect and store the captured rainwater.
2. Conveyance system – It is used to transport the harvested water from the well to the recharge zone through pipe line.
3. Filter – Used for filtering the collected rainwater and remove pollutants and then through drip system it is used to water plants.
4. RO water plant-Used to give water necessary treatment which makes it potable and through pipe line it is conveyed to different places like hostels and academic building for drinking purpose
